Boy Or Girl? Here Are Signs That Can Tell You During PregnancyBoy Or Girl? Here Are Signs That Can Tell You During Pregnancy

For many parents., finding out their child's gender is one of the most exciting news that comes with pregnancy. Here are some pregnancy signs that tell if it's a boy or girl

During pregnancy, most parents want to know the gender of their unborn child. While you can't be completely sure of your child's gender before the 20-week mark, certain prediction theories have been known to work, backed up by various word-of-mouth evidence. It is safe to say that you shouldn't put too much trust in these predictions. You can only be sure of your baby's gender when the baby arrives in your hands. Ultrasounds work but they are not completely correct. That said, to know whether you're having a boy or girl,  what are the signs during pregnancy?

How To Know If It's A Boy Or Girl From Pregnancy Signs

The prediction theories are divided into different groups. And under each one are predictions to know whether you're having a boy or a girl. The groups include:

  • Telltale body signs
  • Emotional signs
  • Old wives' tales
  • Home test
  • Scan

Telltale body signs

Boy or girl: what are the signs during pregnancy

1. Bump shape

Some people believe that they can tell the gender of a child in the womb by the way a mother's bump is. If the bump is down at the pubic area then you're having a boy, but if your bump is leaning towards your breasts then it's a girl.

2. Morning sickness

This one is backed up by science. Severe morning sickness may be because you're having a baby girl. This is because when your baby is a girl, there is an increased level of oestrogen in the body, which is the leading cause of morning sickness.

3. Breast size

If the size of your breasts are not the same, then this might be used to predict whether you're having a boy or girl. A bigger left breast means you're having a baby girl. But if the bigger one is the right breast, then you're having a boy.

Emotional signs

4. Mood swings

Your mood swings might be a sign of the gender you're having. Extreme mood swings can mean you're having a baby girl. Though most pregnant women have mood swings.

5. Dreams

There's a twist to using dreams as a prediction tool. If you dream about girls, then you're most likely going to have a boy. And if you dream about boys, you're most likely going to be having a baby girl.

Old wives' tales

6. Lying position

Your lying position can be a prediction tool to help you know which gender you're going to have. If you lie on your right then it's a girl, but if you lie on your left then it's a boy.

7. Cravings

Some women crave sweet things during pregnancy, while others crave salty things. This difference can be used to make a prediction. Craving sweet things can mean you're having a boy.

8. Baking soda test

Some believe a test with baking soda reveals the sex of an unborn baby. It depends on the outcome when your urine meets the baking soda. Whether there's a hissing sound or not is an indication of your baby's sex.

9. Hand test

Placing your palm to each side of your bump can reveal the gender of your baby. Your hands will curve around the bump if it's a girl. But if it's a boy your hand will go inwards slightly.

Most of these predictions are fun and exciting and there's nothing wrong in trying out a couple. But to be sure, you may have to be patient and wait.
