5 natural ways of skin lightening without using bleach
In this article, the natural ways of skin lightening are listed for those who would like to add an extra glow to their skin with safe and natural ingredients.
Cosmetic creams have always been popular in Nigeria for those looking to lighten their skin. But the question is whether they are safe for use, given that these lightening creams are made from a combination of chemicals that are harmful to the skin. Little wonder they do the job in an aggressively haphazard way, leaving some patches of skin looking darker than other areas of the body that have been more welcoming of the lightening agents in these creams. Sometimes, these whitening creams even leave you with more acne than you bargained for. Thankfully, there are natural ways for skin lightening without using bleaching creams.
- Tomatoes and oatmeal
Tomato whitens the skin by getting rid of black blemishes, sunburn, and tanning. To use it as a skin whitener, take some tomato juice and oatmeal, mix together and apply on your face. Leave for fifteen minutes before washing with lukewarm water.
- Orange and turmeric
The vitamin C contained in orange is powerful in whitening the skin. So effective is that vitamin that it improves your skin just from daily consumption of orange. But to use it as a skin whitener, mix two tablespoons of orange juice with a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply to your neck and face before bedtime, then rinse off after 20 to 30 minutes.
- Cucumber and honey
Connective tissues are responsible for holding the skin, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. And collagen is one of the main compositions of those connective tissues. Collagen gives your skin structure. What cucumber does it to help collagen in keeping your skin firm, and then the cooling effect helps bring radiance to your skin. Just slice and mix the cucumber pieces with honey and apply on your face, leave for 10 to 15 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water.
- Lemon juice and almond
This might look like one of those combinations you may look at with distrust, as though the prescriptor has no idea what they are talking about. But this combination will work wonders in whitening your skin. Make the almonds into a paste and mix with a pinch of lemon. Lemon is rich in bleaching properties. Apply to your neck and face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes. Then wash with lukewarm water.
- Yoghurt and honey
This is pretty easy to get in Nigeria. Yoghurt in its finished form looks a bit like milk. Because it is made from milk it is rich in nutrients that are useful for your skin. It contains moisturizing and whitening agents like lactic acid, which is effective in the removal of skin blemishes, leaving your skin with a natural glow. If you have honey you can add a bit of it to the yoghurt before applying on your face and neck. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes before washing off with warm water. Alternatively, you can just apply the yoghurt for 15 minutes before washing off.
You have to be consistent with whichever one you choose. But if your skin doesn't agree with it, discontinue and try another one.
