19-year-old Isaac Agbo is currently in police custody for allegedly robbing and stabbing Pastor John Jonathan, a pastor of the Assemblies of God Church. The incident was confirmed by Bala Ciroma, the Commissioner of Police in the FCT.

The suspect is alleged to have gone to the victim’s residence in Karmajiji, Abuja, accompanied by a friend who has been named as an accomplice in the case. The suspect allegedly stabbed and robbed Pastor Jonathan when he got to the pastor’s residence.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge the Criminal Investigation Department CID, DCP Salisu Gyadi, stood in for the Commissioner of Police when the suspects were paraded in Abuja on Wednesday. The DCP confirmed the stabbing and robbery incident. He also said that the pastor, who was stabbed in the back, is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Abuja.

DCP Salisu Gyadi, when narrating the incident, said that the suspects went to the pastor’s residence on February 8, 2019. At around 8:30 PM, the police command received a report of a robbery in progress. Police officers were dispatched to the scene of the crime immediately.

On reaching the scene, the police found the injured pastor as well as a dagger and a pistol, which the suspects had left behind. The suspects were no longer at the crime scene as they had already escaped before the arrival of the police.

“We have apprehended 19-year-old Isaac Agbo, a resident of Games Village, Abuja. He confessed to the crime after the men of the NPF arrested him. In his confession, Agbo mentioned that when they got to the pastor’s residence, they entered the house but the pastor resisted their robbery attempt. The suspects then stabbed him and ran away."

According to DCP Salisu Gyadi, the police command is still searching for Agbo’s accomplice.
