China sends Coronavirus treatment guide to Nigeria
This happens just as the Chinese government is ramping up measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.
The Chinese embassy in Nigeria, in a statement, confirmed that the official guide on coronavirus was shared with Nigeria; and other countries through an official channel.
The coronavirus treatment guide includes -Lab Test Procedure; Epidemic Update and Risk Assessment; Diagnosis and Treatment Protocol; Management of close contacts; Surveillance and Epidemiological Investigation.
The statement read partly, “Official Guide Documents on preventing and controlling the novel coronavirus pneumonia have been provided by China National Health Commission to its counterpart in Nigeria and other countries through official channel.“
The first case of coronavirus, which is believed to have originated from bats, was recorded in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.
In the latest development, CNN reports that the virus has killed more than 1,000 people globally since the outbreak began; and no less than 40,000 persons have been infected.
Antimalaria Drug Chloroquine Phosphate Proves Effective In Coronavirus Treatment
Meanwhile, there’s some great news about the COVID-19 infection. Chinese experts have confirmed that Chloroquine Phosphate, which is an antimalarial drug; has been shown to have some impact in combating the infection. According to a report in The Star, Sun Yanrong, deputy head of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development under the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that experts have unanimously agreed that the drug should be included in the next version of coronavirus treatment guidelines.
Since the outbreak, clinical trials against the COVID-19 disease have involved the use of several antiviral drugs. Choloroquine Phosphate, along with Favipiravir and Remdesivir were selected after multiple rounds of screening.
