Here Is All You Need To Know About Pubic Area Fat

A fat pubic area often requires specifically targeted exercise to get rid of it. There are also other methods of removal which are surgical and non-surgical.

It might not appear so based on what we see in the media, but our bodies are radically different. There are varying types of shapes, breasts and even nipples. Also, the vulva isn't left out, a fat pubic area is not abnormal.

All You Need To Know About Pubic Area Fat

While the difference of body parts like breasts might be apparent to women, the differences in Vulva might not be so clear. This is because while we might easily have come across breasts, especially if you have lived in female boarding schools as I have, the vulva is tucked between the legs. Besides, you might not want to be considered creepy for staring at another woman's privates. Or worse, considered gay, in a country like Nigeria with hostile laws on homosexuality.

As women, we already deal with a lot of insecurities when it comes to our bodies. And in a society where the only sex education you might get is a threat from your mother "if a man touches you, you will get pregnant", you might consider some changes in your body as abnormal when it is not. One of such perceived abnormalities is a fat pubic area or what is fondly called "FUPA" by most millennial women and Beyonce. However, these refer to different areas of your pubic region.

What Causes A Fat Pubic Area?

Here Is All You Need To Know About Pubic Area Fat

FUPA means the fleshy upper pubic area, which many might also just call a fat vagina. But the fleshy upper pubic area is like a low hanging belly. It is just below the belly button and right above the mon pubis.

However, what most people refer to as the Vagina is the vulva. The vulva, which is the visible part we see, houses the vagina. The vulva comes in different shapes, sizes and colour. If you are curious, you can check out this labia library.

The Mon Pubis is the fleshy part of the vulva where pubic hair grows.

The Mon Pubis area is a naturally fatty region in the body. Our bodies are made this way to cushion your pelvis during sex. Also, other factors can increase the size of your FUPA and the Mon pubis. Some of them are:

  • Hormones
  • Puberty
  • Menopause
  • Period
  • Pregnancy
  • Weight gain

Due to these factors, the size of your pubic area can continually fluctuate. In particular, weight gain makes the area increase and sometimes after weight loss, it doesn't quite go away.

Does this mean I can never reduce the size of my Mon pubis or upper pubic area?

Different lifestyle factors can cause your skin to stretch, like pregnancy. And due to this area is naturally fatty, it becomes easier for it to store fat. However, there are different methods to reduce it.

  • EXERCISE

The only way to reduce it, in this case, would be to target the pubic area in a weight loss regimen.  In essence, these exercises will focus on your lower abs region.

The following lower abs exercises are recommended. You are equally advised to aim for three sets, each with 25 reps, four times per week.

A V pull:

  • Start on your back with legs out straight and arms overhead.
  • Lift your legs high and try to touch your toes.

Return to the starting position.

This is one rep.

Mountain climbers:

  • Start in a plank position.
  • Quickly bring one knee up toward your chest, then land back down on your toes.
  • Bring the other knee toward your chest, and land back down on your toes.

This is one rep.

Plank jacks:

  • Start in a plank position.
  • Jump both legs out and in (like jumping jacks).

This is one rep.

As we've often stated, weight loss in a healthy way that involves balanced diets and exercise does not happen magically. You should give this 4-5 months before trying out other options.

  • SURGICAL PROCEDURES

There are surgical procedures you can use to reduce your mon pubis and FUPA known as monoplasty. A surgeon can work on this area through liposuction and other excision techniques to remove fat within the pubic area.

  • NON SURGICAL PROCEDURES

There are other nonsurgical procedures like Cool sculpting and Trusculpt which eliminates fat by using techniques that break up fat cells.

Do I need to see a doctor?

If you are having concerns over the appearance of your vagina, or a fatty pubic area, you should see your doctor. Your doctor will provide adequate medical guidance on what you should do next. However, you must note that the presence of this is not harmful.
