Temitope Akinola: Killer grandma arrested for poisoning grandchild
According to DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police arrested Temitope after receiving information about the suspect. The information said that Temitope was the only person with the baby at the time of death. Unfortunately, when the baby's mother came out of the bathroom, she met her baby's lifeless body. All the while, Temitope had never hidden her dislike for the baby's father. Hence, the DPO Sagamu Division sanctioned her arrest. The detectives dispatched to the scene where the alleged killer grandmother was arrested.
Temitope allegedly confessed to killing the baby during interrogation in police custody. Her reason behind killing the baby was that she didn't like her daughter getting married to the baby's father. According to the police, Temitope had wanted to terminate the baby since before she was born. But her pastor had warned against such a thing. So she decided to wait for the baby to be born. “She explained further that she poisoned the baby with a deadly insecticide known as Sniper,” Mr Oyeyemi said.
The officer added that the matter is being further investigated. Afterwards, the prosecution would follow, and that the suspect has been transferred. She awaits prosecution in the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID). Additionally, the officer said the corpse of the baby had been deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo teaching hospital mortuary for autopsy.
