Mary, a housemaid to the Ayeh family in Iju Ishaga, Lagos, has reportedly disappeared with her boss’ daughter. The family found and employed their 12-year-old housemaid from an agent.

5 months after going to work for the family, Mary has reportedly disappeared from the Kudirat Abiola Estate home of her employers along with the young daughter of the couple.

What is the exact story behind the missing child?

Mary was hired to work with Mrs Glory Ayeh in the house and at the shop where her employer sells frozen foods. Mary allegedly absconded with Ms. Faith Ayeh last Thursday and has since not been found. The family has said that they don’t know where the duo went.

My Paul Ayeh, the father of the victim, while speaking to members of the press, said that the incident has left his family broken. Mr. Ayeh also said that all effort to locate their housemaid hasn’t been successful.

Speaking further on the issue, he said:

“My family needed a maid and my wife’s friends helped us hire Mary. Mary was brought to us about 5 months ago. The maid and my daughter are the same age. Last Thursday, Mary left the house with my daughter."

"Our driver spotted them stepping out of the house with a bag. When the driver asked about their whereabouts, Mary responded that my wife wanted her to bring the bag to the shop. We haven’t seen or heard anything from them since then.”

The family has reported the incident to the Iju Ishaga Police Division, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

Following the disappearance of the two girls, the agent that recommended Mary has been arrested and he is said to be cooperating with the police. Investigations have revealed that the suspect is a relative of the agent.

The victim’s mother told the press that she didn’t send the girls on an errand. Mary is from Benue State, but she lived with her parents in Ibadan before she was brought to serve the Ayeh family.

SP Dolapo Badmos, the police PRO, confirmed the incident, which has been transferred to the SCID.
