Nicki Minaj announces retirement from music — to start a family

Wish we had the money to retire too! HAHA!

Nicki Minaj, Trinidad-born rapper, says she is leaving the music scene because she wants to make family life her priority.

The 36-year-old talented rapper, who grew up in New York, took to her Twitter page on Thursday evening to announce her retirement from the music business.

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE,” she wrote.

In June, she had told listeners of her “Queen Radio” show that she and Kenneth Perry, her boyfriend, had applied for a marriage license and would tie the knot in “about 80 days.”

“We did get our marriage license. I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness,” she had said.

“It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”

The rapper and Kenneth have been dating for close to 10 months, when they went official with their relationship on Instagram.

Over the course of her 10 year career, the talented rapper has been nominated for 10 Grammy awards; earned a Guinness World Record in 2017 for most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a solo female artist and won five MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
