Nigerian football player sacked after impregnating club president's daughter
A Nigerian player was sacked by his European team for gross misconduct and indiscipline after it was revealed that he impregnated his club president's daughter.
A Nigerian footballer was sacked from his club, not because of what he did on the field, but because he went to score a goal on another field by impregnating his club president's daughter. He was sacked after news of the controversial pregnancy reached the president of the club.
Nigerian footballer sacked after controversial pregnancy
In Slovenia's second division, a Nigerian footballer whose name has been withheld was shown a red card by his European club after impregnating his club president's daughter just six months after joining the team. The club's reason for dismissal was for "gross misconduct and indiscipline". However, the player does not see anything wrong with his actions because they are adults and it was consensual.
"I signed a three-year deal with the option of another year, but last month I ran into trouble when my girlfriend, who happens to be the daughter of the president, said she was pregnant for me," he said, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.
Speaking further, he said: "The club got to know about it and summoned me for a meeting. I got there and admitted that I am responsible for the pregnancy, and I was told to stay at home and not to be seen around the club premises until I am instructed to return".
However, a week later he was called to the office and told that his agent had been informed of his contract termination. This was surprising to him as he had not been "found wanting in any area" since joining the club.
The Player's Version Of The Story
It is unclear who this particular player is since there are four Nigerians currently registered in Slovenia's second division.
"My agent called me up and said we should file a case with FIFA. He has a recording of the president saying my contract was terminated for having an affair with his daughter. She's an adult, for God sake, we both love each other and decided to have a child," the player explained.
The player further lamented that he's no longer in communication with his girlfriend because she was forced to block him across all social media platforms. He said, "Now I don't know what will happen to her and the child since I'm back in Nigeria. They have forced her to block me on all social media platforms so we have not been communicating. The few friends I made at the club are also scared of speaking to me about her. Apparently, they don't want to run into trouble with the team. I'm confused right now." This player is now considering whether to seek legal action against the club.
Nigerian footballer sacked after controversial pregnancy: Is it okay to date your boss's child?
Love is so powerful that it's understandable to become carefree and ignore consequences in the moment. However, it is important to try and look at things more practically. There's a popular saying that one should be careful of getting their bread and meat at the same store. This saying captures the basic nature of such tricky relationships in the sense that one can hardly say whether it's completely okay or not. The focus word here is being "careful". So in that spirit, here are a few things to consider before dating your boss's child.
- Consider the relationship you have with your boss. This might feel like it doesn't matter but it does, because it helps if your boss knows the kind of person you are.
- Ask yourself whether you can easily get another job if the relationship turns sour and you get sacked. Will you end up homeless and cashless? These questions will bring you some clarity.
- Check the labour laws of the state where you work. Most countries have general labour laws, but in Nigeria, state law isn't the same as federal law. In checking, read to understand whether the labour laws of the state protect you if things don't go well. Can you take things up legally and have the backing of the law?
If you decide to go ahead with dating your boss's child, you should tell your boss about it first. This shows your respect for your boss, and who knows, he or she might just give you their blessing.
