A Little Back Story On The KFC Couple
On the 7th of November, KFC tweeted a video where a man was seen proposing to his girlfriend, who accepted to be his wife. The tweet asked for help to locate the mystery couple. In a few minutes, corporate organisations and individuals started pitching in support to see the wedding becomes a huge success.

After they were found, Hector explained that they actually got married in 2012 in a small ceremony. Although he gave her the ring he could afford at the time, he decided to buy a better ring when he could afford it. He planned the surprise with the KFC staff. However, someone caught the moment on video, posted it on Instagram and tagged KFC.
The post quickly went viral with and caught the attention of brands and individuals who united to gift the couple a grand wedding.

It was not all goodwill, there were comments criticizing Hector for his choice of venue. But, instead of dampening the show of goodwill, it spurred more people to contribute to the wedding.
Gratitude for their wedding

On their wedding day, brands and individuals who made pledges were present to support them. The bride and groom's wedding outfit and venue were all courtesy of sponsors. Artistes like Mafikizolo also made an appearance. In a chat with CNN, he said “We are still in disbelief, both of us have to ask each other if this is really happening from time to time. We couldn't be more grateful to God and every single person that has shared in our little love story.”
The couple thanked everyone who made their dream wedding a reality. “Mzansi gave us a chance to have the wedding of our dreams. We are grateful to everyone who pledged and the millions of South Africans who have supported us. “It is because of all of you that we were able to have this celebration of love,” said the couple.
