Sudocrem is so much more than an over-the-counter medicated cream which is most commonly used to treat nappy rash.

We all know how much of a lifesaver Sudocrem is. You're in safe hands when you've got some nappy rash and a bit of eczema that's driving you crazy. But it is also now a must-have for your cupboard.

For such little money, Sudocrem can be used for basically anything. What's not to love about this wonder cream?

But first: How does Sudocrem work?

The little pot of white paste is not only antibacterial and antifungal (meaning it's perfect for stopping infections from spreading). It contains a very mild anaesthetic (in the form of benzyl alcohol) which helps to take the pain away from your ailment.

It's made up of protective, waxy emollients that are water-resistant. This means it can hydrate the area without letting excess moisture in, which could harbour germs or infection. Essentially, it's a cheap and cheerful little miracle worker, with a whole host of uses.

Want to get in on the action? Here are some of the best uses for Sudocrem.

Here are 11 things you didn’t know you could do with Sudocrem

1) Reduce stretch marks and scars

Sudocrem is a lifesaver, especially for reducing the itchiness from stretch marks and a good cover-up for any scars. But, if it doesn't work for you, and is causing more irritation, stop using the product.

2) Plucking eyebrows

Agh, there is nothing worse than the pain and soreness after plucking your eyebrows. Apply some Sudocrem to reduce the redness and the stinging. Try it out after waxing too.

3) Defend the dye

How annoying is that leftover hair-dye around your face after dying your hair? Well, just putting a layer of Sudocrem on the common areas will prevent it from showing. Similar to Vaseline, Sudocrem acts as a great barrier cream. Apply it around your hairline before colouring your hair to avoid stains.

4) As a face mask

Because of the high zinc oxide content, many people find that a Sudocrem facial, once a week, is one of the best acne treatments if you’re on a budget. Simply apply a thin layer before bed, then wash off any excess in the morning (unless you like the chalky look).

5) Stop the chaffing

The downside to all this humidity is the chafing situation you can experience if you have thicker thighs. But apply a bit of Sudocrem to the problem areas, and you’ll find summer days far more comfortable. Applying some Sudocrem to your thighs will stop chaffing during hot weather and instantly make you more comfortable.

6) The cheap primer

Apply a tiny bit of Sudocrem here and there before applying your foundation and your make up won't sink into your skin.

7) Stings, bites, and skin conditions

Sudocrem is also the perfect remedy for your insect bites and wasp stings. The combination of ingredients such as lanolin, a skin-soothing emollient, and zinc oxide, which reduces fluid loss, helps to calm areas of skin suffering from conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Sudocrem is excellent at offering temporary relief for skin rashes and viral infections that cause spots on the skin, like molluscum.

8) For cuts and burns

Maybe you've taken up climbing and your hands have taken a battering or you've burnt yourself on the oven, again. Try using Sudocrem to soothe your sores. ‘It helps to heal wounds by forming a protective layer over the vulnerable area, reducing the risk of infection, and also contains a mild local anaesthetic to soothe discomfort,’ the brand itself says.

9) Sore noses

For the flu and cold season, Sudocrem is great to treat sore noses after blowing your nose a hundred times. Apply under the nose to get rid of dryness.

10) Protect those nails!!

The last thing you want to see is your perfect nails you just got done, ruined by washing the dishes. So protect them with Sudocrem. Its water-repellent base creates a protective seal.

11) Cure cracked heels with this cream

Dry feet? Cancel your pedicure and simply work a thick layer of Sudocrem into your heels before bed. Overnight, the zinc oxide will go to work while your skin cells are in their regenerative mode. What you’ll wake up with is smoother, softer feet.
