In July, Michelle Obama was crowned the World's Most Admired Woman. Receiving a Grammy nomination for her bestselling memoir will be another feather in her cap. The nomination comes in the Spoken Word category at next year's 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Though, she has a lot of competition in that category. Michelle will be coming up against authors and entertainers, such as the Beastie Boys, John Waters, and Sekou Andrews.

But if history is anything to go by, she just might come out on top. That category has a long history of political winners and nominees. Her husband won it in 2006 and 2008. While Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton also have three wins between them in the same category. Carter won it in 2007, 2016 and in January this year. While Clinton won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album in 2005. Hillary Clinton was also nominated in 2004, after winning it in 1997.

Furthermore, this isn't the first nomination for Michelle Obama. Her first nomination was in 2012 for her audiobook American Grown. Which is a book about gardening tips and cooking recipes. Expectedly, she stands a better chance of winning with Becoming. The book has done great since its publication. According to Penguin House, the book is on its way to becoming the bestselling memoir ever. As of March this year, they've sold over 10 million copies. Penguin's chief executive says that in his experience they've never sold over 10 million units of a memoir.

Michelle Obama narrated the audio version of the memoir. On social media, she says that she can't believe it's already been a year since she published her memoir. Michelle hopes that everyone knows how meaningful it's been to connect. Also, she noticed the common challenge that too often we think our stories don't matter.

Addressing her fans further, she says she's learned a different truth. That the "most quiet, mundane moments lay bare the most powerful truths in our lives. She encouraged her fans to embrace those tiny moments and write them down. Then share them with friends, if you want. That's how we can keep becoming, she concluded.
